Poor water quality is quite common in areas with high mineral soils. The water collected in natural catchments can become saturated by minerals and impurities that then become a part of our household water supply. When this water is used in appliances, such as an electric hot water service, it can quickly corrode a heating element designed for less aggressive water.
Australian land, being a wonderfully rich source of metals and minerals, is renowned for just this type of problem, particularly in W.A and S.A.
There are a couple of things that can help assist the life of the heating element in a hot water service tank.
- A higher quality sheath material, such as Incoloy (not the typical copper sheath type)
- Sacrificial anodes, which will attract the corrosive impurities rather than the element itself (sacrificial anodes much be checked and often replaced regularly)
- A lower watts density element, which delivers the same heat, with less intensity
If you do live in an area well known for it’s water impurities, or notice that you seem to be replacing your heating elements yearly or even monthly, consider the above options when buying a new heating element.

Due to the vast imports of domestic and commercial tubular heating elements into Australia, we have, unfortunately, seen some Australian heating element manufacturers close down, or decrease their manufacturing volume over the past couple of years. We will therefore keep a running list of heating elements that are listed as N.L.A (no longer available). These products will not be stocked items, however they will be available from Romar Elements.
This list will be updated as we recieved news of any tubular heating elements no longer manufactured in Australia. This list is a work in progress; if you know of commercial or domestic heating elements which you cannot purchase in Australia, call us for assistance, or simply send us a message, so we can add the item to the list.
N.L.A Elements can be found in our regular online catalogue for domestic oven heating elements.
We are continually adding our range of heating element spares to this web site. There are so many different appliances and models that require heating elements that it is difficult to keep up with the fast changing ranges.
Today we are introducing our mobile pet wash element, which is commonly used in Aussie Pooch / Hydrobath ranges. This heater is made from a durable Incoloy metal and is an 1800W 240V element with built in thermowell for placing a temperature sensing thermostat.
Some customers need a different shape or wattage or fitting depending on their washing requirements; at Romar, we can make exactly what you need for your purpose. Give us a call or leave your details on our contact page and we will have one of our staff contact you within 24 hours.
Thank you for visiting the new Romar Elements website!
We hope to make your experience dealing with Romar Elements as stress free and convenient as possible with an updated website containing a catalogue of our most requested items. This catalogue is by no means the extent of our capabilities, as we strive to provide customers with the exact heating element they need when they need it. Our database has many thousands of heating element designs, sizes, shapes, wattages and material construct that we continue to add to every day.
In the coming months we hope to provide constructive information, advice and new products to keep you coming back to visit us.
