Heating elements are not always easy to design, especially if you don’t have a sample, or you are developing a new product. We would always recommend you coming in to our office so we can discuss your heating needs in person, however because this is not always possible, we need a little more information over the phone or via email.
The drawing to the left shows some of the different aspects of a heating element that we may ask you about, whether you are having an element made or requesting a quote.
Often we will need to know what equipment the element will be working in, so we can get a better understanding of the environment and adjust the element materials to suit.
To bend up an element, we will need certain exact measurements depending on your needs. The sample drawings below are the more common shaped heating elements. These drawings may help you in determining the measurements you require when asking for a quote or ordering your heating element.
Please click on the drawing you are interested in to get a clearer view.
When you speak to our sales staff, please quote the number directly below the drawing box. We can then take your unique measurements and place them in reference against each important angle of the element. The more information we have the more precise your element will be designed and manufactured.

Has your hot water service stopped heating?
You may need a new heating element.
We always recommend you hire a licensed electrician or service repair technician to check out your water service tank. They can readily identify problems and suggest solutions that best suit your circumstances.
Once the heating element is out of the tank, it can be inspected for any faults and checked for wattage and length requirements for replacement.
Romar Elements can manufacture a large range of bolt on elements, in copper or incoloy (for hard water areas). Our standard manufacturing wattage range is between 750W and 4800W, and immersion between 140mm to 580mm. We manufacture hot water heating elements for residential, commercial, industrial and marine industries. All types of tubular heating elements for all types of tanks.
We also have a small supply of imported standard copper sickle and straight incoloy elements on shelf which come in wattages from *2400W, 3000W, 3600W and 4800W. *(dependant on supply)
Each bolt on heating element comes complete with sturdy rubber gasket for tight leak proof fitting. These rubber gaskets can be sold separately if required.
So don’t put up with cold showers if you don’t have to. Call Romar Elements today to get a new heating element for your hot water service tank.
At Romar, we know how difficult it can be to work out what you need for your heating application. There are so many varied designs, incorporating size, shape, wattages, voltages and material considerations, that our technicians need as much information that you can provide. Some of our basic questions are –
What are you heating? Water/air/oil/caustic solutions…
How much material are you heating?
What temperature do you need to heat the material to?
Are there any sensitive instruments or equipment that need to be protected from the heat source?
Do you require single or three phase?
Any particular shape or size to fit into your equipment?
These are just some of the questions you might be asked to create the best heating solution for the desired outcome of your project.

It’s that time of year again and Romar Elements will be closed from the 20th of December and re-opening on the 8th of January.
From all the staff at Romar Elements, we wish you a relaxing holiday season and look forward to working with you in the New Year.
Poor water quality is quite common in areas with high mineral soils. The water collected in natural catchments can become saturated by minerals and impurities that then become a part of our household water supply. When this water is used in appliances, such as an electric hot water service, it can quickly corrode a heating element designed for less aggressive water.
Australian land, being a wonderfully rich source of metals and minerals, is renowned for just this type of problem, particularly in W.A and S.A.
There are a couple of things that can help assist the life of the heating element in a hot water service tank.
- A higher quality sheath material, such as Incoloy (not the typical copper sheath type)
- Sacrificial anodes, which will attract the corrosive impurities rather than the element itself (sacrificial anodes much be checked and often replaced regularly)
- A lower watts density element, which delivers the same heat, with less intensity
If you do live in an area well known for it’s water impurities, or notice that you seem to be replacing your heating elements yearly or even monthly, consider the above options when buying a new heating element.
